Create & edit a customer

A customer record carries the defaults every new sales order inherits — store, pricing tier (and with it the currency), shipping methods, warehouse, and sales rep — plus addresses, balances, and credits. Creating one takes a four-field dialog; everything else lives on the customer's page.

You can also create a customer inline while creating a sales order, or leave an order customer-less for a walk-in sale.

Before you begin

  • You need the customer permissions for your role — the list's Import and Export buttons and the Add Customer action are permission-gated (for example customers.export).

Create a customer

  1. Go to Contacts → Customers.
  2. Click Add Customer (top right). The Add Customer dialog opens.
  3. Enter the Name (required). Company Name, Email, and Phone are optional, and Add Address lets you attach an address right away.
  4. Click Save. The customer appears in the list as Active, with your account's default pricing tier already assigned.

The customer page

Click the customer's name in the list. The page opens on a dashboard — revenue and order-volume tiles (trailing 12 months), Outstanding Balance and Available Credit, a Contact Information card, the Default Settings new orders inherit, recent orders, top-selling products, and sales analytics. The header offers Refresh and Delete.

The page has four sections: Dashboard, Details, Addresses, and Accounting.

Edit details and defaults

Click Edit on the Contact Information or Default Settings card to open the Details section:

  • Customer Details — name, email, phone, company, fax, plus the read-only origin (sales channel) and created/updated stamps.
  • Default SettingsDefault Pricing Tier, Default Store, Shipping Method (Domestic / International), Default Warehouse, and Default Sales Rep. Fields showing a Default chip inherit your account defaults; anything you set here pre-fills the customer's new orders.
  • House account (B2B on-account) — allow the customer to pay on account at the register and settle later against a credit limit.

Click Save Changes (top right) when you're done.

Manage addresses

Open the Addresses section to see every address as a card, with Shipping and Billing default markers. Click Add Address to add another; each card can be edited or removed.

Balances, credits, and store credit

The Accounting section tracks the money side:

  • Total Due and Unpaid Orders — what the customer still owes.
  • Open Sales Credits — credits from returns and refunds with a balance left to allocate; each row has an Allocate action.
  • Store Credit Wallet — a balance you can add to directly with Issue Credit, with a log of issued credit and redemptions. See Record payments & store credit for spending it on an order.

Delete a customer

Click Delete in the header to remove a customer. Prefer archiving (the list's All / Active / Archived filter) when the customer has order history.

Customers live under Contacts. Click Add Customer, give them a name, and save. The other details are optional. The customer page opens on a dashboard — revenue, outstanding balance, available credit, recent orders, and the defaults new orders inherit. Click Edit for details and defaults — pricing tier, store, shipping, warehouse, and sales rep. A house account lets B2B customers pay on account. Save your changes. Addresses get their own section. Add as many as you need, with shipping and billing defaults. Accounting tracks what's due, sales credits ready to allocate, and a store credit wallet you can issue from directly.
