Connect accounting (last)

Accounting is the last system you connect — on purpose. This page explains why, when, and how, because the cost of connecting it too early or without a reconciliation is paid in your books.

Why last

Give your operations time to settle before your data flows to your accounting system. Orders, inventory, and fulfillment should be running cleanly in production first. If accounting is live while you are still correcting early operational issues, those corrections flow straight into your ledger and become accounting cleanup on top of operational cleanup.

When to connect

  • Wait until about 30 days after go-live.
  • Connect on the first of a month, so your first synced period is a clean, whole month.
  • Confirm the operational side is stable before you begin.

How to bring it online safely

  1. Connect the integration, but keep auto-sync off. Connecting isn't the same as turning on the flow of transactions.
  2. Set your sync start and lock dates so SKU only posts from the period you intend, and never rewrites closed periods.
  3. Map your nominal codes and confirm your tax rates so transactions land in the right accounts.
  4. If you use A2X, disable direct-to-consumer income posting in SKU. A2X already posts that income from your channels; leaving SKU to post it as well double-counts your revenue.
  5. Run a test batch, then reconcile it against your accounting system. Only once it reconciles cleanly do you enable auto-sync.
