Manage warehouse locations
Warehouse locations (bins) give every unit of stock a physical home — typed, barcoded spots like A-03-2. Locations are opt-in at two levels: a global feature switch, then a per-warehouse toggle.
Before you begin
Turn the feature on:
- Go to Settings → Fulfillment → Warehouse Locations and enable Warehouse Locations (Bins) — it gates the warehouse Locations tabs. Click Save Changes.
- On the warehouse's Edit Details page, enable Warehouse Locations and save. Enabling seeds the operational locations — Unassigned, Receiving, Shipping, and Returns — and attributes existing stock to Unassigned; nothing is disrupted.
The Locations tab
Open the warehouse's Locations tab. The grid lists every location with its Code, name, Type (Storage, Staging, Shipping, Returns…), capabilities, the Zone / Aisle / Bay / Shelf / Bin segments, Barcode, and current Units — with Type and Zone filters and a Show deprecated toggle.
The toolbar gives you four ways to build and maintain the layout:
- New Location — one location at a time. Pick the Type, fill any of the segment fields (the code is composed as
{zone}-{aisle}-{bay}-{shelf}-{bin}from whatever you fill, or type a code directly), and adjust the capabilities — the type sets sensible defaults like whether stock can be received there. The barcode defaults to the code. - Generate Range — bulk-create a grid of locations: choose the type and zone, add letter or number range segments (with zero-padding), and watch the live preview (
A-01, A-02 … C-10 — 30 locations) before clicking Generate. - Import CSV — load a layout from a spreadsheet.
- Print Labels — print the barcodes for scanning.
Slotting suggests better placements once the warehouse has movement history.
