Connect a Shopify store

Connecting Shopify lets SKU.io sync your products, orders, and inventory with your store. You connect it with a custom app you create in your Shopify admin — SKU.io walks you through it and tells you exactly which permissions to grant.

Before you begin

  • You need admin access to the Shopify store you're connecting.
  • You need permission to add an integration in SKU.io.

Start the connection

  1. Go to Apps & Integrations and select Shopify.
  2. Click Connect Shopify. (If you already have a Shopify store connected, use New Integration to add another.) The New Shopify Integration page opens with a Shopify Setup Guide.

Create the custom app in Shopify

Follow the numbered steps in the Shopify Setup Guide, working in your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps, then Create an app.
  2. Under Configure Admin API scopes, grant the scopes SKU.io lists. Each scope on the page is click-to-copy, so you can match them exactly.
  3. Install the app, then Reveal token once to get the Admin API access token, and note the app's API key. Copy the token right away — Shopify only shows it once.

Enter your credentials in SKU.io

  1. Back on the New Shopify Integration page, under API Credentials, type your Shop URL — the your-store part of your-store.myshopify.com.
  2. Paste the API Key and the Admin API Access Token from the app you just created.

Choose your options and connect

  1. Under Advanced Settings, set a Start Date — orders and inventory changes before this date aren't synced.
  2. Choose whether to Download Archived Products and Download Draft Products, and leave Auto Sync Enabled on to keep the store syncing automatically.
  3. Click Create Integration. SKU.io checks the credentials and connects the store, and syncing begins.

Back in SKU.io, enter your store's web address, then paste in the API key and the admin API access token from that app. Set a start date so older orders are skipped, choose what to download and whether to sync automatically, and click Create Integration.
